Clinton, OK Portrait Session

This month I had the wonderful opportunity to fly to Oklahoma to photography one of my dearest friends Jacy’s daughter (see sweet Rachel below and more coming) and also got to do two anytime sessions (Anytime meaning it is not an engagement shoot). My frist night in Oklahoma we drove from a one small town to Clinton, OK where my friend Jacy was performing in a play/musical. As soon as we entered Clinton and saw the old train cars, I knew that had to be the location of the couple portrait sessions. There is something about old cards, trains and pealing pant that I just love as backdrops! Enjoy this small sampling of images from such a fun portrait session!

You may remember me talking about my new friend Christi a few months back, she is the one that makes the adorable hats for children, well time to post actual pictures of her and her family this time. A few months back when we did the hat portrait shoot, her daughter Vivi had not exactly warmed up to the camera so we had to postpone their family session and it finally came together. Here are a few quick previews, we went to East Atlanta Village, my favorite place in Atlanta, and had a great time following Vivi all over the place !

Getting Vivi to sit still for a family shot was rather tricky but I caught a few great family shots despite the fact Vivi is a girl who does not sit still long

I can not wait to share others with you in due time!

East Atlanta Village: Family Portrait Session with Katie, Spencer, EA & Rane

Yesterday, despite the lack of perfect weather, Spencer, Katie, Ella Ann, Rane and I set out for East Atlanta Village. East Atlanta Village has become my favorite place in Atlanta thanks to Kim and Reid , who introduced me to this charming part of our city a few months ago.

East Atlanta is a diverse, friendly neighborhood with traditional neighborhood charm and never ending variety of backgrounds for portraits of all types.

We met up at Joe’s Coffee Shop, a lovely little coffee shop located on Flat Shoals Ave, whose staff are friendly and serve up a great cup of coffee or in my chase a mocha.

I bought this trunk months ago from a dear neighbor with the idea of using it for children’s portraits, but had not had the opportunity to use it until yesterday. The trunk is from the late 1940′s early 50′s and was used my former neighbor’s son as a suite case for summer camp in the 1950′s. I could not image packing for camp in a trunk however using it for portraits I can. I also applied a texture to this portrait, feedback is welcomed.

Mr. Bob of 1st Class Barber & Beauty invited us to come inside the barber shop and photograph Rane in their awesome fire truck seat for kids. This was a big hit with Rane and made for some super cute portraits of this little guy who recently turned one! Thanks Mr. Bob for inviting us into your shop!

It is hard to believe Ella Ann is four years old already.

Welcome to my new blog!

Hello! Welcome to my new blog! I’m excited about my new blog layout and design, and I hope you will be, too. I love the fact that I can now display larger images than on my previous blog. The picture below is of Anslee & Chris, whom I had the chance to photograph in Long Island City, NYC this summer, more images of their session coming soon.

I have been out of the blogging world for a few months, but they were a fun few months! It was an exciting time, full of travel, weddings, vacation, and various photo shoots mixed in between all of the above. Right now, I am preparing for a trip to Rome, GA this weekend to visit my dear friends Jana, Kane and Mara Kate and also for a family portrait session at Berry College. I am very excited about visiting with them but also to return to Berry to photograph such a beautiful family in a location I love to photograph!

On October 24, I will be photographing Caroline & Dave’s wedding in Macon, GA at the fabulous Hay House. I am looking forward to this wedding not only for the beautiful location, but also because Caroline was one of the first friends I made when I moved to Atlanta five years ago. It is an honor to not only be her photographer, but also her friend.

I am SUPER SUPER excited about their wedding location, The Hay House Two weeks ago, I drove to Macon to scout it out. Here is a shot of the lovely dining room. Amazing!

The purpose of this blog is to share my recent work with you, offer pieces of photography tips (for all levels) or direct you to ones I found helpful, post up coming specials and to keep up with me and all my many adventures!

Photography is a gift the Lord has given me to bless others. I love capturing life as it unfolds before my lens and creating memories that those I serve can enjoy for generations to come. Photography also teaches me to stop and see the beauty that exists all around me, to stand in awe of God both for who he is and for the beautiful world he has created.

I will leave you with an image from the end of photographing the wedding of my dear friends Troy and Amy in San Antonio in 2007. Someone took my camera and Troy and Amy surrounded me! It is an image I will treasure forever.
