What a great evening I had photographed a dance rehearsal and then spent the evening with my dear group of friends. So here is a personal picture of me with my group of friends celebrating Ryan’s birthday.

Snow falling in Atlanta is a BIG deal! So as soon as it started coming down I ran out with my camera in my hand to just capture what I could with available light! Love that I got to hang out a bit with some of the neighborhood kids and watch them enjoy the white fluffy stuff that is accumulating rapidly here in Decatur!

I am so grateful for my new camera, I got it last week and have been shooting with it ever since. I love the higher ISO abilities and learning what it has to offer. Above is one of the first images I took with “Shannie” aka my new camera. Yep, my new camera has a name, yes I know I am strange I name my major possessions such as my car, computer and now my camera. My camera is named after my friend Shannon Johnston who is also an artist and missionary whom I have been blessed with the opportunity to get to know this year! Can not wait to exploring all the options my new camera has to offer!

Hello Everyone!
I arrived in New York City about an hour ago, sitting in the cafe of the hostel I will be calling “home” a good bit this summer. For those that do not know, photography is only my “part-time” work, but I work full time for Mission to the World. Part of my role at Mission to the World (MTW) I organize and lead short term mission trips to New York City, therefore I will be in NYC about six weeks this summer. This trip I am only here for a week, but will be back again July 1.

Lighting & My Garage

My friend and fellow photographer, Conway Yen, has been challenging me to learn more about my flash units, he has been very good at answer all my millions of questions! Thank you Conway! Which I have to admit using flash is not my favorite thing to do in the world I prefer natural light any day, but this is an area I need to focus on learning more as I do use flash a good deal indoors. Sunday afternoon, I carried all my photography gear out to our not so pretty garage and investigate a few different settings on my flash units and admit it was a fun learning experience. I have come to learn that in photography there is always a million others things to learn and practice, which I think is a good thing as it pushes me to always learn something new. Since no models were available a random bicycle I found in my garage stepped in to be my model for the afternoon. Below you will find a few of the shots I took while testing my flash units.

On Friday night, the young adults of my church (ChristChurch Atlanta) had a tacky Christmas sweater party and I set up my camera in front of the tree for a little silly “photo booth”. Here is a short video of our crazy fun.

My 30th Birthday

Today was my 30th Birthday! What a wonderful day it has been, kinda sad it is over. I am actually excited about my 30′s, even seems to think I should be freaking out about it, but I did that a long time ago, but now I am so excited about my 30′s! Today was such a wonderful day, starting with breakfast with my coworkers and it continued on from there! The day was full of work meetings then a relaxing time with friends. I received messages from all over the world, my cubical at my full time job was decorated, I talked with my family and then the evening was perfect. Dinner with a few girl friends at Cafe Istanbul (amazing) then back to the Wilton Hilton for an amazing cake and photo booth fun (posted on facebook)!

I am grateful to the Lord for blessing me with 30th wonderful years and I look forward to many more. I am also grateful for my parents, friends and coworkers who have richly blessed me throughout the day!

One of the highlights of my day was the cake my roommate Elizabeth got me – a cake that looks exactly like my first digital SLR – The Nikon d70! (I now have a d300)…it was life like. It was from Highlands Bakery here in Atlanta and I was so excited I even had a few tears of joy.

I do not have “real” nieces and nephews but adoptive ones I do have and what a treat it is when I get to see them, we have such a fun time together! Of course, I also love photographing them but this time Nancy (one who started my photography interest) took the camera and caught me with them! Such sweet memories! I look forward to my next visit!!
