Her tiny fingers, toes, and nose are just adorable. The first moment I saw her, she had my heart. I wanted to hold and photograph her all day long! In Hebrew her name, Sela, means “rock.” It is my prayer (as I know it is also her parents’) that Jesus will become Sela’s rock while she’s very young.

Over the past few years, I have had the honor of photographing Sela’s two older brothers. Now I get to see them being BIG brothers to this precious little girl. I look forward to watching them all grow up in front of my camera lens.

One of the greatest thing about my photography business is making friends with those I serve. Sela’s parents, Rebecca and Marshall, have become dear friends to me. The Lord used photography and art (Rebecca is an amazing artist herself) to bring us together in 2007, just after my first gallery showing at the Genema Gallery. As I’ve photographed their family since then, Rebecca has become an art/business mentor to me, for which I am grateful! I also deeply enjoy our “chai dates,” where she brings the kids to visit me at the office or we go out for Indian dinner after a portrait session. After this portrait session I wasn’t able to go out to lunch with Rebecca’s family. As I was leaving, her eldest son kept saying, “I want to go to the restaurant with Aunt Bobbi Jo!” It is such an honor to be asked into the lives of those I photograph, and it’s even better when we become friends.

Here are a few portraits from Sela’s newborn session. (And Gerrick and Greydon, I am not forgetting you, her two BIG brothers!) Enjoy!
