New York City: Street Performer in Central Park

For the past four summers, I have had the privilege of serving in New York City with Mission to the World, overseeing its short term mission programs there. One of the things I love about walking through the streets of New York is hearing great music from various street performers. I’m captivated, not only by their music, but by wondering about who they are. What is the story behind the pieces of music they are playing? What brought them to the city? The list could go on.

This photo is a man who was performing at Bethesda Terrace, just under the staircase. Maybe someday I will have the guts to ask a street performer for his story so I can share it along with his picture, but until that day, here is a portrait of a man I will name Sam.

I am in the process of learning about applying textures to photographs, and this portrait has a texture applied to it. Feedback is welcomed.
